Sala Kaew Ku sculpture park

Definitely a must-do activity in Nong Khai is to hop on a bicycle, pedal along the bank of the Maekong and find your way to the Sala Kaew Ku sculpture park. The surreal array of Hindu-Buddhist sculptures of over-sized dimensions took the artists 20 years to complete, featuring your favorite Hindu gods and Buddha representations. A highlight within the park is the circle of life sculptures, expressing a vision of the Buddhist beliefs of this culture.
For more information on how to get there and a good explanatory diagram of the circle of life, you should ask the staff at Mut Mee guesthouse in Nong Khai.
